The theatre play written by Dennis Kelly, is a powerful, impressive monologue about the varieties of love, about hurt and control and the pitfalls of masculinity. Kelly questions the balance of power between the sexes in a critical, intelligent and extremely artistic manner.
The nameless woman begins wonderfully laconic and with a lot of dry humour:"I met my husband in the passenger queue on an Easyjet flight, and I have to say: I didn't like the guy right away."
The main idea of the stage design is a vague scenic place, a building reminiscent of a house, placed in the centre of the stage.
It follows 3 conceptual building principles:
I. Transformation:
The moving elements of the front facade transform the stage:
Using different materials “hidden” in the frontal wall of the building the scenic landscape is being transformed, from an ordinary to chaotic at the end.
II. White color :
The white color supports and helps the viewer to focus on the performance of the actress.
III. Many scenic play-options:
The stage design offers different scenic s for the actress, she can be seen from the window (of the first floor of the building), play inside the building and move around the stage in different directions.
